I have been working on the USS Yorktown,a soverign class ship, while awaiting my new captain and crew. There was another Starfleet officer aboard, I believe he is a helm officer. After a couple ofweeks, Captain Redding arrived, along with a few of his commanding officers. My first meeting with the captain did not go well, as I tripped while entering the bridge for my first meeting. I hope that he will excuse my anxiousness of meeting him for the first time.
We continued preparing the Yorktown for it's first voyage with verylittle crew and after a couple of months, we were ready. We weresent to DS9 and on the way Captain Redding tested the differentsystems. I was surprised that we were sent on, having little crewmembers. LtCommander Brack, chief science officer and I split bridgeduties, spending 12 hours a piece on duty. While on the bridge, Itried observing the crew and how they worked. It seemed rather oddat times; the Captain and the Chief Engineer seemed to argue abouthow fast to increase her speed.
While on DS9, I had a chance to meet the chief engineer, as we playedchess. He played well and I had to buy him several drinks as hisprize. I was surprised to see him drink so much. I haven't met allthe crew from the previous Yorktown yet as I have tried to devote more of my time to my work and now, due to the results of my physical, my fitness. The doctor is creating a fitness program for me as well. This should do me well though, especially to keep my mind off of other things. I also spoke to the ship's doctor about not sleeping well, as I continue to have dreams about some sort of laboratory. Someone is on a surgical table, maybe it's me. I can't seem to remember all of the details. I wonder if this has anything to do with the passing of David? The doctor wants to teach me relaxation techniques to help me sleep. After spending a couple of days at DS9, we went to the badlands area. While there, we discovered 2 ships, what seemed to be Cardasscian and Ferengi. The doctor led a boarding party, of which I was on. This was interesting, as I did not know that the doctor would lead a boarding party in an aggressive situation. But it was my first taste of this type of situation and I did get to gather information from the recovered ship. I hope my performance was satisfactory.
